Saint Felix of Cantalice
Thanks be to God! This was the stamp of our Brother Felix. For forty two years he begged alms for the brothers and no matter what he received, this was his most joyous and thank-ful reply. Deo Gratias. In time, this is what the people came to call him, "Brother Deo Gratias." He was a joyful and friendly friar who was much loved by all the people. As soon as he would return to the convent he would deliver the provisions he had received and then go directly to the Church. His first prayers were for the good benefactors who had blessed them and then he would spend much time in adoration before the Blessed Sacrament at the altar of our Lady. He also spent many hours of the night there and once the Mother of God placed her Holy Infant tenderly in his arms.

He died in 1587, his face brightening with joy as he beheld the Mother of God inviting him into the joys of Heaven. It was the Feast of Pentecost. Pope Urban VIII beatified him and later he was canonized by Pope Clement XI in 1709.
