Virtual Novena to Saint Clare of Assisi

Love Rapture
In the cross is infusion
of heavenly sweetness
In the cross
is strength of mind
In the cross
is joy of spirit
(Imit, L.II.C.XII)

Saint Francis spent so much time and so much absorbtion in the great love of our crucified Lord that his eyes would shed many tears and his eyes become inflamed from weeping.

Many times we find the cross painful to look at. Suffering. I know myself I am not very fond of it, but I find consolation knowing that Jesus himself did not like suffering for suffering's sake. He embraced it out of love for us! In fact He feared the suffering He was to undergo, and He prayed for His Father to remove the cup from Him. But the fullness of love is shown here, in that He trusted completely in the Father's love and put His complete trust in that whatever was to happen, was in the Father's control.

As we become aware of the great love that God has for us, we come to realize that there is nothing that God has not done to draw us to himself. Nothing that He will not do in the future. God wants us in heaven and He will go to any length to get us there!

This week as we prepare with Saint Francis to be united to the cross, let us trust and pray as Jesus did, "Father, not your will, but Thine be done".
