Just Not Quite Yet . . .

Do you ever get those moments where you just seem to be positively jealous or envious of everything in sight and everyone you come in contact with? It’s like, “Oh my…. they are doing that better then me, and how do they get stuff done so well, and why can’t I seem to move on anything?”

I expect it has its source in a number of things.
1. being tired
2. a disconnect day where whatever you do - it seems like you should be doing ten other things at the same time
3. a devil attack (he does get about you know)
4. just one of those days!

And maybe its just Spring…. where the weather is changing - the ground is preparing to burst with new growth—but it is only— just—beginning to happen.

Life is all set to BURST open with new leaves, flowers and greens of every color but not quite yet. So everything is like.. almost… but not quite.

I just went and took an early evening walk with Shelley around the garden - and after a lap or two praying my rosary I thought.. hmmmm… I should take a little movie of what it looks like. So I did.

Now you can see what I mean. It’s that almost but not quite stage. Just like where I seem to be.

One new change I have been thinking about - and that is where I am going to post my postings. I have been putting them on the Seattle PI as a reader blogger - but it just doesn’t seem like such a good fit to me anymore. For one thing I don’t like the ads… and it just seems like God is pointing me into a new direction for a blogging home. So… for the present I will post mostly on my blog here at the card site with Barb and see which direction the Spirit moves from there.

Yesterday I didn’t have the comments fixed so that was a bit of a snag - but its fixed now.

So now I am going to send this on its merry way and go finish my walk before its a moonlit walk!

Blessings of Peace and All Good,
Sister Patricia

The trip around your yard was delightful, it is a lovely place - even now. While we are in “Old” Spring here in NC, it is easy to see where your grounds are eagerly awaiting the signal to burst through. A couple of warm days like you had today and it will be overgrown… overnight. (BTW: Your friend Shelley has a nice smile.) Bene Di! (Italian for God Bless!)

Thank you Sister Patricia for this lovely video of your garden. Soon it will be lush with growing delights. I liked hearing the birds sing and the end with your smiling dog!
    Have a blessed week.

Thank you for the trip round your garden - nature is wonderful at any time of year but esp. at spring when God’s fruitfulness is bursting out, here in Kent UK it’s in full flow. Thankyou for your joynotes, an inspiration! God Bless you all.

Thank you for sharing, Sister Patricia. It was like taking a walk right beside you and enjoying the peace and quiet with you and Shelley. We are in full spring/summer mode here in Texas, with temps. in the 100’s the 2nd week in May. Last week it was high 90’s, and this week it is much better, with lovely evenings and beautiful cool mornings. I’ve never been to Washington, but maybe one day. And you sure are welcome to visit us in Texas anytime, Sister. God bless!

    Good Morning Sister Pat!

I know the feeling! But as I was reading, I was thinking, Why do I do that? Why do I see what others have and feel envious - when I have Jesus? Isn’t that enough?! And I am not meaning to be all pious or holy or anything like that (because, ha! Believe me, I am not anything like that!). But I thought, I know THE LIVING GOD! I know the One who made ALL things, who holds all things in His hands… and I know that he loves me.

    Isn’t that be enough?!

    WAY more than enough!

So I guess my problem is I don’t always see what I already have. I am not too smart that way.

So thanks for opening my eyes this morning! May YOUR day be FILLED with Light and Joy!

Here in Pa, its all green and beautiful. The Dogwood and Magnolia Trees have already blossom and are green. We are waiting for the first hummingbird to arrive, it will probably be a Henry, lol..

HI SIster, What a great look of your garden. Have faith spring will come and you will know what the direction should be for you. Our spring in New England is alittle ahead of you. So it is coming! Go Bless

  • By Christi, May 19, 2009 @ 3:43 am

I see what you mean - although everything is green - you get s sense of it still feeling cold. It doesn’t look warm yet.
And yes I know how that is when you have a day when EVERYONE seems to be a better person than you, to have everything down pat, to be accomplished & organized… yup - I know how that is.
    Thanks for the video clip!

  • By Ali, May 19, 2009 @ 3:47 am

Thanks for the lovely walk around the garden…which will be bursting soon with Spring flowers. We had a touch of frost this morning in Central NY!
Understand about the ads. Even when I clicked on to watch your garden video it first went to A-Weber - I had to close that and click a second time. Drives me crazy!

Hi Sr. Patricia! (I’m waving like a crazy lady)

Shelley sure has a BEAUTIFUL smile! I love how she moseys-on-over to the camera to check out your new “nose”! Hmmmm, maybe that’s why she’s smiling so big?

Mmmmmwwwaaaahhhhh! (that’s me blowing you and Shelley a kiss)

  • By Alissa, May 19, 2009 @ 4:57 am

Sister Pat, Thank you for the video! I really enjoyed it, and I realllly enjoyed seeing Shelley! She is a beautiful dog with a beautiful smile! Did you see how she sat pretty and smiled for the camera? She likes her picture, and video, taken!
I usually read, look at, and watch all you have posted, then I go to the bottom of JoyNotes to read today’s readings, etc. Sacred Space gave me an error message. Am I supposed to subscribe to that one somewhere?
Have a blessed and Terrific Tuesday!

Thank you for sharing pictures of the Spring at the Monatery. I almost felt like I was there. Water at the grotto was moving and got to see all the gold fish and of course Shelly. We are just into spring and summer is not far behind here in southern Indiana.
    God bless love your emails,

  • By Anonymous, May 19, 2009 @ 5:40 am

Shelly likes to be photographed! How cute. Loved the garden, it looks like a quiet, private place to go to meditate and pray. Talke about jealousy - I keep looking for that quiet place, with a place to sit and pray, a place that would be a holy place. Then, in my mind if I couldn’t go to that place, I could at least invision it. By the way Sr. Pat, I LOVED your blog from yesterday. It was PERFECT! If ever you have doubts, just remember that YOU are where GOD wants YOU to be and YOU are doing what HE wants YOU to do. And remember too, you touch so many lives with such a positive, human touch that is yet so real and holy. You are doing a FANTASTIC job.

  • By Joyce Kauders, May 19, 2009 @ 5:52 am

Thoroughly enjoyed “walking” through your garden with you and Shelley…even the fish came over to say hello and “feed us” …know that look. Thank you for sharing your Monastery with us…truly our Lord resides there. Maryland has already blossomed but yours is sure to come very soon. God bless.

  • By Elizabeth Gill, May 19, 2009 @ 9:04 am

Sr. Pat, to me this looks like a beautiful place where when things get to be overwhelming you can retreat. A place to remind us that when God finally calls us home there will be peace. A little bit of heaven on earth. In Christ. Elizabeth

  • By Ro Bajsert, May 19, 2009 @ 9:19 am

    Dearest Sr. Pat,
Thank you for the beautiful/peaceful stroll through your garden today. I am having what I call a meltdown day today dealing with my Dear Sweet Hubby’s Alzheimer’s & in the last 10 days had a young (27 yr.old) cousin die unexpectedly & 3 days ago his Grandmother (also my cousin) found unconscious in her home. She had suffered a stroke & heart attack. Your video brought me much comfort.
    God Bless You!!

  • By michelle, May 19, 2009 @ 10:50 am

yes, i was so relieved by reading your blog. well, i am kinda going through this phase of being jealous and i envy my friends for being so successful with work and life…….and i still haven’t achieved anything……..i am so depressed and frustrated with my life……at times i feel like lying to people i come across….. but i am not like that, i pray even harder to have the strength ………

  • By June, May 19, 2009 @ 11:21 am

Dear Sister Patricia, what an absolute delight you are. No matter what seems to go arwy somehow you always make it something to smile about. In your joy note yesterday you said it all, that “I don’t have to be perfect.” No, none of us do, we are only to “just be” as Jesus asks and ask God creates. I loved walking with you, and Shelley, through the Monastery gardens. Here in Boise, Idaho, your neighbor to the southeast, we are in the same stage of Spring as are you, and at the same state of anticipating full bloom.

God Bless you, Sister, all of you, and Shelley, too. Thank you for being such a daily joy.

  • By Georgette H. Helou, May 19, 2009 @ 12:20 pm

I really don’t have any comments except to thank you for all the lovely Joy notes that you religiously send each one of us. I love all the videos and play them once in a while.
Tks. a bunch for all your hard work. God bless you and all the Sisters.

  • By Ginger, May 19, 2009 @ 12:33 pm

Sr. Pat, I would like to keep this link available and when I need to unwind, well, I’ll just sit back and pretend I am in your beautiful ‘park’. How soothing! I think I would fell so close to God there. Can I come for a visit?…I may not leave!

  • By smc4jmj, May 19, 2009 @ 12:35 pm

    Dear Sister,
Thanks so much for taking us on your walk. What beautiful grounds you have. By the way,My dog Princess Estrella de oro is a golden retriever and she and Shelley look so much alike. My dog turns 8 in June and already has the white around her eyes, but other than that they are like twins. She is beautiful. I loved the quiet and peaceful atmosphere of it all. A great place to get away to for a nice retreat.
Sister, thanks for sharing it with us. Have a peaceful day.

    Peace and all good,

I am a member of the SVP. We recieved a letter recently from a twinned conference in S Africa. There the SVP looks after people dying of AIDS. A Grandmother is now looking after her two grandchildren after her daughter died of the condition. The conference in S Africe feeds these poor people once a week. One of my conference members remarked, “My God I’ll never ask you for anything again. I have so much!

    Dear Sister Pat
I wanted to see your garden (and Shelley) but when I clicked the link, it brought me to your blog but not to the video. Can you help?
I look forward to your chat every day!

  • By Sr Alice, May 19, 2009 @ 2:15 pm

    Dear Sr Pat,
Thank you for sharing pictures of Spring at the Monastery. The peace and tranquility of the garden, the cascade of water and the rippling brook is so conducive to prayer. We in Sydney are in Autumn now and soon it will be Winter.
Thank you Sister for the fantastic job you are doing bringing Christ to the people through the inspiring words you send out each day via the joynotes. May God bless all you good sisters. In union of prayers. Sr Alice

What a beautiful place to meditate in and enjoy! I loved seeing the things you’ve shared with us, like Shelley and the fish pond. Keep it up! It brings you closer to us.

    Hi Sr. Pat,
Thank you very much for videoing your garden for us. It is so peaceful and relaxing. I can picture you walking and saying your Rosary. Thank you too for Joy Notes and for your wonderful books. I have them all, and look forward to your new one, how ’bout “Welcome Home” ? God bless you and your Sisters. Flo from N.J.

  • By Doreen, May 26, 2009 @ 1:19 am

I loved the stroll around your garden, so quiet, inspiring and relaxing, a lovely place to be. Where I live we don’t have gardens or trees close by and we have to walk to parks or gardens to enjoy the greens…so I will be thankful for the walk that takes us there : )
I will be saving a link to this so I can watch this lovely videao again.
I loved watching how Shelley comes up to you as you video her. Thanks for all you share with us Sr Pat.

Blessings to you and your Sisters,

Thank you for all your beautiful cards. They inspire me every time I make a selection. When I was young, I believe I did volunteering at the facility staffed by the Poo Clare sisters and it was a wonderful experience.
